Our recommendation regarding anti-virus configuration is as follows:
- Turn on scanning of incoming and outgoing documents from/to the Therefore Server by enabling the advanced settings ‘Scan Incoming Documents’ and ‘Scan Outgoing Documents’. Note that this requires that AMSI (Anti Malware Scanning Interface) compatible anti-virus software is installed on the Therefore Server machine.
- Define an exclusion rule for TheServer.exe in the anti-virus settings on the Therefore Server machine
This change in the configuration allows the Therefore Server to explicitly scan incoming and outgoing documents exactly once and thus avoids overhead of additional scans, which happen in the default configuration. Additionally, potential errors under high load in Therefore Server due to anti-virus software blocking access to a file are avoided.
