To perform a cross category search, a suitable cross category search template must have already been configured.
How do I search across categories?
1.Select New Search in the ribbon menu and then New Cross Category Search.
2.A dialog will open with a list of search templates. Select the relevant template and then click OK.
3.The template dialog will open.
4.Click on Options and choose Select Categories. A dialog will open in which you can select the categories and add categories. When finished click OK.
5.The chosen categories will now appear on the template as tabs. Choose the first one and then right-click on the index field that will be used to cross reference the categories. From the context menu chose the matching variable. Do the same for the other categories. To run the search click on Find.

•A variable is preceded by a $ symbol. |
6.Click on the disc icon and chose to save it as either local or global. You can then specify a location and name for the new search.
7.To use the cross category search once it has been saved, go to the Repository pane and click on the folder where you saved it (if you saved it in the root folder, click on the Repository icon). The saved cross category search will be listed under Saved Searches. Double-click it to start the search.
