Furthermore, to help get you familiar with the terms used in this guide, we recommend taking a look at the most commonly used terms below.
Term |
Definition |
Category |
A category is a logical grouping for information that has the same type of metadata. For example, categories could be used for invoices, employee records, purchase orders, and other document types. |
Index data |
Index data is the metadata with which a document is saved to Therefore⢠and later used to find it again. For example, the index data for an invoice might be the invoice number, invoice date, amount, and so on. This data uniquely identifies a document. |
Folder |
Similar to a normal Windows folder, folders in Therefore⢠are used to logically group sub-components such as categories. |
User |
All users logging into the Therefore⢠system require a personal user account. This is used to ensure traceability of who performed which actions on the system. |
User group |
A user group is a grouping of users with related qualities. For example, the user group "HR" could contain all employees in the HR department. This makes it easy to assign security permissions to more than one user at a time. |
Permission |
Therefore⢠ensures strong system security by working with a robust set of permissions. The system provides an extensive list of permissions that can be used to precisely control access to information. A full listing of these permissions with exact descriptions can be viewed here. |
