Storage Format
Original: electronic TIFF documents are not converted. (Scanned pages are saved as single page TIFF).
Single TIFF: the saved document will contain a separate TIFF image for each page of the document.
Multipage TIFF: all of the scanned pages become a single TIFF document containing multiple images.
PDF: scanned and imported pages are converted to a single PDF file.
Compression (note these settings are only used for color documents. B&W images use default compression)
JPEG: use JPEG compression.
JPEG 2000 (only for PDF, but not PDF/A): use JPEG 2000 compression (better quality than JPEG).
LZW, Packbits, ZIP (only for TIFF): various compression options.
PDF Settings (checkboxes)
Searchable PDF: scanned and imported pages are converted to a single PDF file. The entire document is processed using OCR and converted into a PDF with text.
PDF/A: this is a special PDF file type that supports archive compliance.
Sign with personal certificate: before saving, the user can select a personal certificate with which to sign the PDF.
Apply external timestamp: an external timestamp is applied to the signature before saving. You can configure which external timestamp server to use in the Solution Designer. An external time stamp makes sure that the time is exactly correct and not dependent on the Server settings which could be changed.
The OCR language can be selected from the list. This should match the language of the documents being scanned. For PDF storage format this will only be used when Make searchable is checked. But, setting the OCR language would also make sense if you intend to use ad-hoc OCR.
