Technical Bulletin for Power BI Users
22 November 2024Technical Bulletin for Power BI Users
This bulletin is a notice of a recent change to how users can work with Microsoft Power BI through their Therefore™ system. If you do not use the Therefore™ integration with Power BI, you are not affected by this change.
Creating new data sets
Starting October 31st, 2024, Microsoft has discontinued creation of new real time semantic models. This means that Therefore™ users can no longer create a new data set to start uploading data to Power BI. Existing configurations are not impacted.
More information from Microsoft on this topic can be found here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-the-retirement-of-real-time-streaming-in-power-bi/
As a workaround, Microsoft can add organizations or users to an exception list to allow the creation of new data sets. As of the time of writing, Microsoft is planning to allow access until October 2027.
To do this, create a support ticket in the Power Platform admin center and ask for your tenant to be added to the exception list so that data sets can be created again: https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/support/requests
If you require additional assistance or have any questions, please contact the Therefore support team through the Support Portal or at support@therefore.net.
